Position:
iconMental Health Clinician/Therapist

Statements of Purpose
We are currently seeking a part-time to full time therapist to work in our Intensive Outpatient and Residential Program. We have separate tracks for adolescents (12-17) and adults as well as for primary mental health and substance abuse disorders. Therapist will be working with adults, adolescents and families, primarily in groups, with some individual and family work. Experience with group work, Psychodynamic Process groups, Family systems knowledge, severe mental illness, and evidence based approaches preferred. Group modalities currently include DBT, CBT, Psychodynamic Process, Multi-Family Psychoeducation and Experiential Therapies (Art, Mindfulness, Meditation.) Weekend and Evening work required. We are a strongly connected staff committed to each other and our own well-being, as well as a holistic approach to the care of our clients.

Major Task, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain the well-being of clients and the integrity of the program.
  • Provide effective individual, family and group psychotherapy.
  • Maintain knowledge of mental health, dual diagnosis, CBT, DBT, and family systems approach.
  • Conduct assessments of clients at admission and as needed.
  • Provide appropriate diagnoses and treatment recommendations based on a review of the client’s history, signs, and symptoms.
  • Provide crisis intervention services.
  • Participate in treatment planning.
  • Provide utilization reviews as required.
  • Consult with agency staff, caregivers and other professionals.
  • Maintain all documentation in appropriate and timely manner as required.
  • Provide appropriate discharge planning for clients as required.
  • Attend and complete all in-service trainings and educational workshops.
  • Attend all required staff meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain knowledge of and act in accordance with Balance Treatment Center mission and philosophy.
  • Maintain knowledge of and act in accordance with current legal standards pertaining to professional practice, reporting requirements, professional boundaries, and related issues.
  • Demonstrate respect for cultural and lifestyle diversities of clients and staff.

Qualifications

  • LMFT, PHD, LCSW or related clinical qualifications.
  • Minimum two years of experience in treating persons suffering from mental illness and substance abuse.
  • Prior training in Psychodynamic theory, EMDR, DBT, ACT, Mindfulness or other evidenced-based practices is preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively
  • Must be customer-service driven

Position:

Statements of Purpose
The Technician fulfills the assigned role as a part of the treatment team, maintaining the well-being of clients and integrity of the program. Provides client supervision and staff/unit support as assigned.

Major Task, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Completes admission/intake procedures on new clients including all paperwork, room assignments, and initial orientation.
  • Conducts property searches of clients as required by program standards.
  • Performs initial urinalysis of clients as required.
  • Performs Medication Call supervision as required.
  • Provides transportation services including client transportation, donation pick-ups, agency errands, etc.
  • Attends in-service training and educational workshops.
  • Attends all required staff meetings.
  • Knowledge of mental health, dual diagnosis, family systems as well as various recovery resources in the community.
  • Develop and maintain individualized records of client progress and participation in treatment including admission and discharge, individual, group, family, vocational (both individual and group) literacy training and other occasions as appropriate.
  • Ability to write clear (and concise) statements, summarizing client’s feelings, expressions, resistance and response to their treatment plan; goals and objectives. Includes letters to referral agencies, courts/probation.
  • Ability to confront behavioral changes, identifies a crisis, and recognize when additional assistance is necessary.
  • Ability to recognize personal recovery issues that have an impact on job performance and interactions with clients.
  • Fully understands and maintains policies regarding professional ethics, including appropriate boundaries and client confidentiality.
  • Ability to demonstrate respect for cultural and lifestyle diversities of clients and staff.
  • Ability to prepare for, and facilitate specialty programs.
  • Basic knowledge of referrals, both in and out of Balance Treatment Center.
  • Working knowledge of the Balance Treatment Center philosophy.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, with clients, staff, peers, supervisors and non- Balance Treatment Center resources.

Technician Competencies and Performance Expectations

All Technicians are expected to:

  • Document client intake and treatment progress.
  • Identify a crisis.
  • Facilitate an educational group.
  • Liaison with and refer to treatment team, inside and outside agencies.
  • Assess and report client behavioral changes.
  • Identify personal boundaries and be able to work as part of the treatment team.
  • Adhere to professional standards.
  • Recognize personal biases working within diverse populations.

Prerequisite Qualifications
Following are the qualifications required to perform the essential functions of this position. Qualifications may be subject to modification based on the Americans with Disabilities Act.

High school diploma or equivalency. One year of experience in the mental health field or educational progress towards degree in a mental health field.

Must have valid California driver’s license and liability insurance if driving personal vehicle on Balance Treatment Center’s business.

Vision, hearing, manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination must be adequate for performance of job duties. Able to sit at desk, use keyboard, write and physically perform other job duties. Able to move about the facility to observe clients and staff.

Position:
iconLicensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) / Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT)

Statements of Purpose
The LVN or LPT is responsible for the nursing assessment, medication monitoring and supervision of the technician staff for the facility.

Major Task, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performance improvement data collection and reporting as directed by the DON.
  • Medication monitoring process.
  • Accepting and transcribing phone orders from physicians.
  • Treatment planning.
  • Assignment and supervision of the tech staff.
  • Admission and ongoing assessment of client condition.
  • Vital signs.
  • Maintenance of nursing supplies and over the counter medication supplies.
  • Nursing documentation audits.
  • Documentation and providing of shift report.
  • Medication counts as required.
  • Patient rounds 1 time per hour, dependent upon census/staffing.

Current California LVN or LPT license. One year experience required. Experience in a residential healthcare facility preferred.
