Elisabeth Stewart, LMFT

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
“I believe that we each have within us all that we need to lead a balanced life - mind, body, and spirit. That knowledge often becomes lost to us as the stuff of life gets in the way. I feel my role is to join with the individual and come to know their story. We can then work collaboratively with a plan to move toward healing, balance, and the rediscovery of self.”
Lis Stewart is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, graduate of California Lutheran University with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, with an emphasis in “The Recovery Model.” She is currently training in EMDR as an additional therapy to help the client who may be stuck as a result of trauma. The Recovery Model emphasizes hope, empowerment, peer support and self-management, her studies explored how when provided with adequate services to address their specific needs, those suffering with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, etc. can recover and lead fulfilling lives. Lis has experience with adults and adolescents, couples and families through her work at Cal Lutheran Community Counseling Center. She also has experience in an acute inpatient hospital, which provided the opportunity to hone her clinical skills and to work with and get to know as people, those suffering with serious mental illness.
