Sheila Shervey, LMFT

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Sheila Shervey, M.A. is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. During graduate school she was introduced to mindfulness and how mindfulness supports the mind’s natural ability to heal. Since that time, almost a decade ago, Sheila has been incorporating mindfulness and acceptance-based practices into her life and therapeutic work.
At Balance Treatment Center Sheila provides experiential group therapy, combining practical strategies with mindfulness-based interventions to calm and restore balance to anxious, depressed, and dysregulated minds. She assists people as they develop new relationships with unwanted emotions and foster greater self-compassion, acceptance and peace within themselves.
Sheila draws her knowledge and wisdom from the teachings of mindfulness expert Jon Kabat-Zinn who created the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program, her studies with the Mindful Awareness Research Center at UCLA, and training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. She also maintains her own meditation practice.
