Hear from our alumnis

“As adults, we are expected to present ourselves as best we can. Unfortunately, this expectation leaves many of us feeling isolated and trapped within ourselves. The hurts we accumulate can become overwhelming and our attempts to suppress them eventually begin to cause us more injury. At Balance, I was able to allow myself to be human and show my pain in a safe and supportive setting among staff and fellow clients. I have begun a journey of discovering my authentic self and learning that it is great to be human.”

A WORD FROM OUR ALUMNI

“I came to Balance from a very dark place. My life was full of fear and I felt hopeless for the future. At Balance I took so much off this darkness I did not understand and made more sense of it, learning how to heal, have compassion on myself, cope with difficult times, and set out on the journey of healing, love, and a healthy well balanced life.”

“When I began the program at the Balance Treatment Center, I was new to group therapy, and I was very skeptical. I was suffering, and I didn’t see a path to get out of my pain. I certainly didn’t understand how talking to other people who were suffering was going to help. After a few sessions, though, I began to see how the dynamics of my group were going to help me grow compassion for them and in turn, self-compassion. The staff were remarkable. They each had their own styles: some were warm and emotionally available, some were analytical, some were mindful and aware from moment to moment, and some referred us to good materials to read after the session that might help us further. They were attentive to the size of the group, to the mix of personalities, to the stages of recovery each person was in.”

A WORD FROM OUR ALUMNI

“This was the greatest experience ever regarding my mental health. I came to Balance broken, miserable, and hopeless. Through all of the different types of group therapy, and bonding with other clients, I became a new person, not even as good as my old self, but better. I am leaving Balance optimistic, and hopeful. I know I will still need to work on myself, but Balance restored a solid foundation for me to restart with. Thank you Balance and all the staff!”
